will you be needing the services of a courtesy runner? ;)

Mark Ziegenbein lives about 3 blocks from us. His kids and 96jr. go to the same elementary school.

AJ, I'll see you there tomorrow-- I won't be playing, but apparently the game will be on closed-circuit TV. I'll be manning a camera and would love to say hello... maybe exchange autographs.

You do CSTV for them? Ironic, because I did the sound up there for so long too. Small world.

And unfortunately no...no courtesey runner for me...except when I'm pitching on Sunday...which won't be a pleasant expierence.

Should be fun today though. I've played at Rosenblatt several times in high school and college, but never got to hit the mound. (Saw a lot of the bullpen though). Not sure if I'll throw today or not...I'll have to report back later.

PS - No laughing Sam...my arm is shot.

West wins 11-9.

Yours truly throws 1 inning....1K, 1BB, 1R.

0-1 at the plate with a groundout to second base on a pitch outside.

Fun was had by all.

Fun was had by all... except for the Hilltop catcher.

AJ, you should said something-- and I wonder how I missed the inning you pitched-- must've been while I was directing-- can't pay that much attention to detail when you're directing.

I was pitching the inning the catcher got plowed, and was 10 feet away when it happened. (Whoops, should have been backing up the play.)

Funny thing is...even though you're supposed to slide, I don't think the runner saw the ball coming until it was too late. Plus, the Hilltop guy was 10 feet up the line and blocking the plate. It's unnecessary, but on a bang bang play, I can see where it would happen.

Funny thing is, after the inning, I asked the guy if he was alright, and he said, "not really". I said, "Well, it looked pretty fucking cool." He got all pissed and said, "It didn't feel cool."

Oh well. He lived. It's baseball. Suck it up.

that explains how I missed your IP. Because of the heat, we were changing places-- I was on my way down from the pressbox when it all happened.

It was pretty quick. I think I only threw 16 pitches, but I got a strikeout, so I was happy.

I walked the first guy because I'm not used to throwing off of an actual mound that doesn't have a 8 inch hole where your foot plants. (at least that's my excuse.)

PS - It was hotter than hell. Our game yesterday wasn't NEARLY as hot as Saturday.
