Well well well....
Looks like somebody..(or 2.1 million Somebody's) jumped the gun on this whole Sam Keller situation. I'd love to tell you I'm shocked. I'd love to tell you that I surprised that the jock-sniffing Nebraska media couldn't IMAGINE a talented (yet 2nd string) quarterback going ANYWHERE but Nebraska...but I can't.
Seems that according to published reports, not only has Keller not 100% decided on Nebraska...but he hasn't even ruled out returning to Arizona State. Hmmmmm...sounds a bit different than what I heard on Husker talk radio yesterday on my drive home, where fans were dialing up, proclaiming how great it was that a great former NFL coach (chuckle) like Callahan could not only recruit high school kids, but QB's from other major teams.
Sure he's just some college kid, but let this be a lesson to some of you: Please feel free to get your facts right before proclaiming victory. It doesn't matter if it was thanks to some internet report, or an actual ESPN.com exclusive....you REALLY need to let these things play out before telling the world how great it is to reel in such a catch.
Already this morning, many members of my office had noted (now that they find out he probably isn't coming) that he was nothing but a cancer to his team..and wasn't really that good anyway. Hmmmm...is that what was echoing down the hall this time 24 hours ago?

Moral to the story....Despite the white-hot manlove you people have for yourselves...just because a QB is free to go anywhere he wants, doesn't mean he's going to come spend his winters in the warm sunny utopia that is Lincoln, Nebraska.Can't wait to see who will...uhhh...I mean....might come here next....

Here are the three options at this point:
(a) Keller comes to Lincoln: Callahan is a genius and the greatest ever! Amazing!
(b) Keller stays in Tempe: Oh well, he's ASU's problem now.
(c) Keller goes to Norman and plays for the Sooners: Keller is a flake who can't make up his mind and a primadonna like Josh Freeman. Bob Stoops is a pr**k. F'n hillbillies.

Heh...even if it is true. (I've heard it 15 times in 24 hours..each time followed by, "we think he's in")...do you still find it odd that he is THAT good, yet was essentially blackballed by his teammates?

Last I heard he was visiting the campus. Odd-- classes have already started at the prison, do you think he can catch up, or should we call Natalie Reidmann?
Personally, I'm getting tired of the hype that is college and even high-school football. Who gives a fuck? Your purpose for college and high school is the get an education, not get paid, not play sports. Don't believe me-- anybody remember how old Bob Feller was when he debuted with the Cleveland Indians? When any of these guys can make the jump straight to the pros and be a stud, only then will I be impressed. In the mean time, keep you skills sharp while getting an education.

A bit off topic BUT...please tell me that Jim Rose is not for real...
He was on the local Denver late afternoon sports radio show (Irv and Joe on AM 950)this afternoon and was truly amazing...I cannot fucking believe that this homer is for real. He went on and on about how the bugeaters match up very well with USC and despite it being an away game they have an excellent chance of prevailing. Irv and Joe didn't really get into his face because they were stunned that this idiot actually truly believes what he is spewing.
I have a theory how this is possible. Someone has synthesized a derivative of the "date rape" drug and has put it into the water supply. He went on and on about how the bugeaters have "senior leadership" that will somehow compensate for the vastly superior athletes on the Texas and USC teams...
I am going to call Coach Hawkins in Boulder and plead for him to forfeit the Nov game with NU...I strongly suggest that all other B12 North coaches follow suit...
If I had to listen to this idiot call games I am seriously afraid that I would start drinking again....

Billy Bear... He is for real...however, I don't actually think he believes much of what he says. Some of it is for effect, most of it is because he has to, as PbP voice of the Huskers, and the rest is because he loves to talk.
