Smartest Kids on the Short Bus
Before I head out for the evening...quick congrats to the Big 12 North team that wanted it the least...the Missouri Tigers. Nebraska, running the most boring and predictable offense on earth (with the exception of their now standard 1 trick play a game) wins the slap fight and barring a total choke to CU in 3 weeks..will win the right to get ass-rammed by Texas.
But smack aside, the much meligned Husker coaching staff called an excellent game....simply by showing up and allowing Gary Pinkel in the building so he could call 10 yard outs and draws, instead of attacking one of the worst defensive backfields in college football. (Seriously..how many times did they go deep downfield? 5? 6?)
Brandon Jackson is a load, and Zac Taylor continues his Trent Dilfer-esque ability to not destroy his own team too bad. (I think he's actually pretty good) Obviously, as I stated on Friday, this game was way bigger for Nebraska, and it showed. Missouri will go 9-3 this year, and head to either El Paso, San Antonio or wherever. Nebraska will wear their new "Order Restored t-shirts" and continue to stand waist deep in medicoriy, even if Colorado, K-State, KU, Iowa State and Missouri have their heads underwater.
I'm not sure if being the skinniest girl at fat camp is something to be proud of, but I'm sure you'll take it. I"m not sure if beating a team (and nearly giving it away..only to have them give it back away) you've beaten every year at home since Three's Company was on is a huge achievment...but nonetheless...props to Callahan for saving his job for a few more years. I can dish it out...I can certainly take it.
I'm heading out tonight, so go ahead and pile on as you see fit. (JP gets first honors) Rest assured...as I stated many times...I'm a Missouri fan. I expect this stuff. Big fat thud's in a big game are nothing new. In fact..it's quite anti-climactic.

I'm impressed, a little. I'm the guy who gave you the "hanging curve" about your premise. The reason I even heard about your blog is I'm a Denver Bronco fan, not a Cornhusker as you assume, and I can't stand CU fans. I constantly tell them that they are not worthy of being called fans because their hatred of Nebraska is greater than their love for CU. That's not a football fan. In pointing this out to my one true CU fan friend, he told me about your blog. He gets his almost daily fix of Husker hatred from you. I assumed, until today, that you had the same issue as most CU fans, and that disappointed me coming from a Mizzou fan. But I might be wrong. You might actually love Missouri more than you hate Nebraska. Good for you.
But my earlier post is still correct. It's not just me that says Nebraska fans are the classiest. Most broadcast teams, most sports pundits, even opposing coaches and players repeat it. So you versus all of them, I say they win. It's your blog, that's your leg up, but that's it. Nebraska fans are the classiest in America says tons more credible people than I and those of you who disagree, well, you are unabashed fans of rival teams.
Just be happy the score wasnt worse. The 4th and 1 dropped pass kept Missouri in the game.
By the way, your star quarteback picked his nose on national television. And then proceeded to eat it.

I enjoyed the day, the moment and watching the Huskers kick Missouri tail today in the stadium. AND I will enjoy what you have to say to all who leave you comments after the game today.

Be proud AJ, despite the loss, it's not all bad. You can still wake up in the morning and say that you're not a Cornhole fan.
Keep fighting the good fight. I feel your hatred. I live in CO, and deal with these stupid ass clowns more often than I'd like (not as bad as you get it, but I feel what you feel), and hate them all with a passion.
JP had so many thoughts in his head..he couldn't come up with anything else...but he's right.
What we got here was two teams of nearly equal crappiness. Even when Nebraska was ready to pull away, Missouri gave it right back to them. And as for the comment about the drop on 4th and 1...if we're having do overs on drops..I'd like the TD back against Texas A&M please. :)
In terms of "order restored", it all goes back to expectations. If you want to be the best team out of the North...then that's cool. This season..the Hicks are that...if barely. (If the game was in Columbia, it'd be pretty much Mizzou by a head if you ask me.) But it all came down to turnovers.
Mizzou had 2..Nebraska scored 14 points off of them.
Hicks had 2..Mizzou went 3 and out.
There's your ballgame.
As for the rest of you jackoffs...I hope you see the overall big picture. I've told you for months...years that this Missouri team isn't that good. Are they better? Yes. Are they the best Mizzou team in a while? Probably? Are they going to beat Nebraksa in Lincoln when Pinkel is calling draws and bubble screens when NU is starting a freshman DB at linebacker? No.
Hating the Huskers is far bigger than one game. My own personal team has lost LOTS of games to Nebraska in my lifetime..and a slap-fest like this sure as hell isn't going to be the one to keep me from hating them more.
The North is pretty bad. We can all probably agree on that.

PS - One thing I forgot..despite NU winning the North..there is a VERY real chance they will head to a bowl game at 8-5. (Loss to A&M and Texas, beat CU) If they lose their bowl game..is 8-6 "Order Restored?"
Winning the Special Olympics that is the North isn't quite the same as standing in the Rose Bowl in 2002, watching Miami pick up their trophy is it?

The game was never in doubt. The only time Husker fans were nervous was after Phillips dropped a sure TD pass that wouldve put them up 34-6 and Mizzou took it down the field to make it 27-13. But then they put the camera on Chase sitting on the bench and he picked his nose. What came next, is something I wont soon forget. HE ATE HIS FREAKIN BOOGER! ON NATIONAL TV! ARE YOU KIDDING ME? This game was never in doubt. Hell, you needed a 51 yrd FG to cut it to 21 ..... at halftime. HE ATE HIS BOOGER? JESUS, I CANT GET OVER THAT.
That's great...it is obvious you keep down playing MU's program while NU fans have higher expectations for their team. You must hate yourself for that...if you don't - consider it. You seem to have enough hate for others. I recommend some for yourself. SAD, isn't it? By the way, you could see the set up in your writing miles away. Downplay the MU program (OK, so they never really do win anything)then if they happen to win - you can lambast NU fans. Lose and your safe...never expected it. PATHETIC.
