Congrats on the big time program changing win over New Mexico. They are one of those quality programs that lost to that 1-AA powerhouse Portland State. GO TIGGGERS!!!!!!

When in doubt go to the "oh yeah..well your team sucks card"

Even if that team dropped you by 17 last year, is sitting 3-0 and has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that you looked like dogshit on National TV.

Well done Cletus

Funny stuff, AJ. As someone who couldn't get out of Nebraska fast enough after high school, I can attest that your observations about the "Husker Nation" are spot on. I am fortunate enough to be a proud member of the Trojan Family who attended the game last night, and have a few observations of my own:

Husker fans have to be the most passive-aggressive people on the face of the earth. They'll never just come out and say something to your face. To wit, the gomer sitting in front of me, pointing to the large replica jersey's of USC's Heisman winners that adorn the north side of the Coliseum, was proudly stating, ostensibly to his son, but in reality to everyone around him as his voice was about 4 times that necessary to communicate to someone sitting next to him, "There's a murder (OJ), there's someone who took payoffs (Bush), there's..." He didn't get to finish because I leaned forward to him and said we were saving the remaining space for Lawrence Philips and Christian Peter. He shut up and wouldn't even turn around to look at me.

I was also fortunate enough to share an elevator in the parking garage after the game with two moderately obese late twenties (they'll each be 100 pounds overweight by the time they hit 35) Huskers and their fish-faced lady friend who, upon my entering the elevator, took up a conversation about how quiet the Coliseum was compared to Memorial Stadium, how weak USC's entrance from the tunnel at the start of the game is, and how NU just has better game day atmospher and traditions. Great points all. The University of Southern California has no tradition whatsoever...Traveler, the Song Girls, the Trojan Marching Band, 11 National Championships, 7 Heisman Trophies, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. We suck compared to the greatness of Nebraska. As for the stadium being quiet, maybe it was because the 45,000 Nebraska fans that were there to make it a Nebraska home game had nothing to cheer about the entire game. Oh wait, they only had 20,000 people there, but at least a dozen of them I saw were wearing red and white striped overalls without a shirt underneath, so I guess that makes up for it.

Overheard at a burger joint after the game: a group of Nebraska fans discussing how it was just too bad they didn't play USC in the 90's. I kid you not. Gee, I'd love to see Troy Polamalu, Carson Palmer and Reggie Bush suiting up for the Trojans for the next few years, but that ain't gonna happen.

I was able to observe countless other examples that back up everything you talk about on your blog (such as the older Nebraska couple i overheard discussing how they can't understand how anyone would want to live in Los Angeles because there were so many "foreigners"), but I've already taken up too much time and space here. I'll leave you with a comment from today's LA Times: "Apparently Bill Callahan's west coast offense does not work on the west coast." Keep up the good work.

SC fan..thanks for the insight. Appreciate you stopping by.

Pissed off, angry, bitter, barely-better-than-Vandy Husker fan....That's the best you can do? "GO fuck yourself"?

And then some weak ass smack about a team that has kicked your ass 2 of 3 years..who is also 3-0 this season....

Truth hurts...not my fault you can't deal with it.
