Anything like Kansas playing in a final four men's basketball tournament in Kansas City?

The NCAA is looking at three things when they decide these sites. 1) Cash, 2) Cash, 3) Cash and possibly cash.

Nebraska baseball had one of the most favorable roads to Omaha last year and they torched it. I believe Nebraskas' road was comparitively easy because the NCAA wanted CASH, CASH, and some more CASH. Why the heck do you think the NCAA has been trying to pull the baseball tourney out of Omaha for the past 15+ years. Omaha just keeps doing everything the tourney says because of CASH, CASH, and more CASH.

For Christmas please send CASH, CASH, and more CASH.

KU hoops in 1988 is an even more blatant example of gift-wrapping a title. Especially when that team isn't very good.

Actually..in all seriousness, I don't care. However, you don't think NU could win a title in tiddly winks and me be without a comment?

You know me better than that.

heh

Just like God, even the NCAA is a Husker fan. Might as well jump on the bandwagon AJ, we all know you want to, otherwise why spend so much time talking about it? The first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem...

I agree that the NCAA is a money driven machine. They absolutely drool over all the coverage and money being poured into college football and basketball. Maybe their goal is to put college baseball and women's volleyball up to that level as well.

However, just because the championships are in your home state doesn't guarantee anything. Sure, its a huge advantage but look at Nebraska baseball as a reference. We should have three titles right now due to that logic but have a sub-par record of 1-6 at the CWS instead. Even the volleyball team almost didn't make it this year by having a tough match against Minnesota. I don't follow Kansas basketball (who would?) but they obviously had to get through all those games to reach the Final Four in KC. There are no guarantees with these playoff championships (insert BCS joke here).

I'm being overly hard on the NCAA. Omaha was given the tournament because of local 50+ years ago (USC, Maine, Michigan, and Southern teams, when train travel was more common than air travel for college atheltics). The NCAA has wanted to move the venue around the past 15 years so as to get "bids" from places like Sacramento, Oklahoma City, Indianapolis, and the like, but Omaha has done everything the NCAA has asked to get the CASH flowing from the tournament.

What bothers me about the NCAA is that they are so willing to prostitute these college age kids for CASH. The NCAA doesn't educate these kids, all they do is regulate various sports activities. Does the NCAA really care if a sport becomes mainstream? In my estimation, NO!!! Otherwise, they would be pushing soccer matches on television on Saturday instead of football, because as we know, KIDS play a lot more soccer than football, but what sells is football.

Stanford gets it gift-wrapped next year...Illinois had the basketball title gift-wrapped a few years ago...and USC got it last year (but blew it)...eh, it happens...
