Judgement Day (yawn)

I’m gonna delay the look at the crappy NU defense for another post, in order to his some hot button topics of the day.

- I agree that Mo Purify needs to be punished. I also agree that Bill Callahan needs Mo Purify to help win him games and keep his job. I also realize that NO lawyer in Lincoln wants to be known as the guy who puts a star Husker player in jail for an extended period of time. But alas, the trial is today, there is a plea bargain in the works (according to Steve Sipple yesterday) blah blah blah blah.

Is ANY of this shocking? I’m not shocked he attacked a bouncer. I’m not shocked he allegedly hit a girl. I’m not shocked you people defend him. I’m not shocked he’s about to get off with next to nothing. I’m not shocked that the media is playing this off as no big deal. I’m not shocked that as the schedule gets closer, the realization that your other wide receivers suck is sinking in. Also, I won’t be shocked when Callahan announced a 4 game suspension. I won’t be shocked when some of you think it’s too harsh. I won’t be shocked when all of you say “he learned his lesson”.

NONE of this shocks me.

So why is this a big deal? It’s not really, mostly because Husker players have been getting in trouble and getting off with a slap on the wrist for well over a decade. They punch fans on the field. They attack OU cheerleaders. They steal purses. They have sex with teen girls in trailers. They hit off-duty firefighters over the head with a pool cue. They steal playstations. They get drunk and drive on nothing but their rims. They climb up the side of buildings and punch girls in the face.

Compared to all of that, does it really surprise you that he’ll get off light in the courts, and he’ll get off light on the team?

It doesn’t me.
Personally, I don’t really care, because I’ve watched Mo Purify play quite a bit. He’s an outstanding talent with NFL skills. Unfortunately for you people, he also takes big games off, he fumbles when the chips are down, and he only hustles when he wants to.

As far as I’m concerned, as long as something wacky doesn’t happen today….case closed.
AJ

PS - Oh, and by the way. For those of you looking at me going, “hey hypocrite, how about Kalen Grimes on the Missouri basketball team? He smacked a guy with a shotgun. What do you have to say about that?”

I say cut him. Let the courts deal with him and cut him from the team. No suspension. No trial period. No “Kalen needs basketball in his life.” Nothing. Break the rules. Leave the team.

And that’s the difference between you and the rest of us.

I still think Purify should be suspended for the entire season. He has a redshirt available, and if he cleans up his act, he can come back in 2008.

Don't think it's going to happen though. Some think he'll only get a 2 game suspension.

Grimes is no longer on the MU basketball team. I don't expect the same from the Bugeaters though.

I hate it when Mike sets a good example for you guys.

Can't wait for JP's reply. I'm sure sheep and Summer's Eve will be involved somehow.

I am a Nebraska native and and Mizzou student. I stumbled across your site and laughed. I was not laughing at your cynical comments but instead at the mere ridiculousness of your blog.

As a fan of Missouri and Nebraska I can tell you that Nebraskas fans are much more loyal and "die hard." But I see nothing wrong with that. Sports fans all over the country are passionate about their team and i think Nebraska fans have the right to be as well. I see nothing wrong with supporting the only team that Nebraska is known for. It is showing not only pride in the football program but also pride in living in the state of Nebraska.

Sure Nebraska fans can be a little outragous some times but so can fans of every other team in the world. Have you ever been to a european soccer match? They chant all game long and throw flares onto the field during the game. The opposing teams fans have to be gaurded by a swat team because the home fans will fight them if they don't.

I would also like to share about my time that i took over 10 of my friends up to nebraska to see the mizzou game in lincoln this past season. My friends were taken aback and could not stop telling me how nice nebraska fans were. we were all decked out in tiger gear and we were invited to 2 tailgates by random people. We heard a lot of "good luck" calls to us.

I am probably not going to convince you that nebraska is alright because i honestly don't care myself. I just feel like you could use your writing skills and humor in a more POSITIVE and useful way. You obviously have a talent in writing and comedy but i just think you are getting a little to upset about this issue. It is the sports world (its not supposed to serve a purpose) its just for fun.

So try to have a little fun!

Thanks for the semi-kind comments Brian. Feel free to come back and respond anytime..even though I think you are way missing the point..but that's fine. I appreciate the effort in trying to change me. Unfortunately, you probably are going to need more than 5 paragraphs.

Oh, and by the way....

Hey Brian,

AJ gave a diatribe on how the happiness of fans was dependent on how many thugs were on a given team.

What type of person comes to a conclusion like that? Better yet, what type of person agrees with that type of logic? (When AJ bragged about 2400 Sooner fans checking his site, it brought down my opinion of 2400 Sooner fans fell off the charts.)

Point being, you're not going to convince a guy that believes divisions are meaningless, THUGS=HAPPY FANS is a universal truth, and is a self-proclaimed college star of anything. (However, it is very entertaining to read who agrees with him and for what reasons.)

Dear Ass Jockey

Trust me, you care. You don't like that you care, but you care. It's sad and funny at the same time.

bhg, your comments make me dumber every time i read them.

so i see purify gets one year probation and coughs up $1,250 for his indiscretions. some husker fans seem to think the light sentence means he won't miss any games. folks, it's the crime, not the punishment, that should determing what "cally" does. if he's back for the USC game, i will consider that strong evidence of a program bent on winning at all costs.

"Ass jockey"

The best you can come up with is "Ass jockey"?

What are you going to come up with next? Dickmunch? Buttnugget? I love it when anonymous posters come on to "blast me" and then leave with some lame expression that I haven't heard since 8th grade.

Dear Dillweed,

I don't fucking care because I already know the asnwer to the fucking question. Take a fucking context class next time.

First of all, I think Husker Dork (Mike) should be suspended for the season. He has a redshirt available, but it says "I'm with stupid" on it, along with a few ketchup stains.

BHG, finally someone else agrees and thinks you're IQ is about room temperature. Would you shut up. Please. If I read thugs=happy fans one more time I'm sending a posse over to the trailer park to rough you up.

Callahan needs Purify to save his job? Come on, AJ. That is ridiculous. He'll get suspended two games and come back for USC and hopefully stay off the sauce for the rest of the season. Happens at every major college in America. This is about as newsworthy as Husker Dork and BHG caught between the Snooker Bowl with their.. Nevermind.

I've heard Mo's been out drinking to excess since the second arrest, so he better get to AA or something. Could be an expensive mistake if he screws up again.

I don't own THUGS=HAPPY FANS, I just quote it.

Apparently something is wrong with bringing up silly things that people say and do. Hey, isn't that the point of AJ's site, doesn't he point out the absurdity of a segment of Husker fans and then makes broad over-reaching statements which end up being inaccurate generalizations (which he does very well and we are entertained by that inasmuch by the people that agree with it).

JP's comments insulting anothers IQ is hilarious given his previous lines of arguements and ability to defend them with reason and logic.

JP, send your posse to trailer #12, it's a shade of light blue, with a urine stained green couch out front next to the Pontiac 6000 that is up on blocks. (I'd almost pay money to see what type of posse JP could come up with.)

In regards to Purify, the guy hit a woman, and for that he should receive a severe punishment (six/seven games). The drunk driving deal is another story, how many college kids (and they are 19-24yr olds) have have made the same mistake.

1. Why are you so damn upset at the world?

2. Do you honestly think Husker fans are the only fans that blow sports out of proportion?

3. Why do you make fun of people that follow the huskers religously, but then write an entire blog about the huskers?

4. Don't you think there are more important issues to write about instead of proving to people how fanatic husker fans are?

5. Do you honestly think Mizzou is that good? Remember New Mexico in 2005?

Did I just imagine that?

Could you not come up with logical answers to my questions?

did i just imagine that?

...and remember I go to Mizzou and consider myself a Tiger fan over a husker fan. I've helped tear down 2 goalposts when mizzou has beaten nebraska in the past. But i have also watched Mizzou absolutely fuck up a ton of games. Did you watch Tony Temple last season?

And why are you such a huge fan of mizzou? Did you "have to be different" from the people here and choose another team to root for? Did you go to mizzou? because as a student i would feel a little ashamed if you were an alumni. Plus if you went there you would know what kind of tools there are in greek town before the games, talk about obnoxious fans!

Couple of things here:

1) you can still be a Mizzou fan and still act like a douche. I've said it before, I've said it again...we (ie you and me) have worst fans on earth.

2) If you're this torn between the two teams now, what's it going to be like in October?

3) You're lucky you didn't get punched by a husker player while you were tearing down goalposts.

4) Calling out who I root for is pretty funny for a couple of reasons. I've explained it here 1,000 times. Do some reasearch before you spout off. Who's to say I did or didn't go there? Who's to say I wasn't born in Missouri, lived in Missouri?

You could be an exchange student from Uganda attending Mizzou and have less ties than I do. You know what would be funny? If I really went to Nebraska. Wouldn't that just be a hoot?

The fact that you're a Husker fan at all disqualifies you from any sort of brotherhood whatsoever. I only pity the person who has to sit behind you, as you change sweatshirts real fast on 10/6 to whomever is winning.

Oh, and by the way..you know what I'm ashamed of? Mizzou fans who would even dare root for Nebraska.

Thanks for stopping by. Have a great day.

Oh, and PS - The students who rushed the field in 2005 were morons. You save that for KU or a good football team, PERIOD. Not that collection of overrated thugs and never-will-bes. Hell, the game wasn't even close.

You guys were an embarassment to the rest of us.

HAHA

Nice job of not addressing any of the questions i asked again!

So, because i don't want to read any more of your nay saying about everything. I'll ask you again. WHAT ARE YOUR TIES TO MISSOURI?

Also what kind of fucking BROTHERHOOD are you talking about?

It is ok by the way to root for both teams in a football game. Its really not a life or death situation remember...its just a game AJ. It almost sounds like you are telling me i can only root for mizzou if i went to a game. Doesn't that sound like something a husker fanatic would say?

Oh and if you were a real mizzou fan you wouldn't be making fun of the huskers you would be making fun of KU...

C'mon, AJ.. you have to hate that this is happening, right? Puts alot of pressure on Pinkel and his boys to try to live up to these expectations.
With this news, make sure you put goggles on before you visit TigerBoard, it's like a jizz-a-thon over there.

Brian,

I take all comments. It doesn't matter if you're a closet Husker fan, or if you dress up as Bob Devaney for Halloween. I run this little blog to blow off some steam...let loose some anger and to mingle with enemy and non-enemy alike. More than 60% of the hits to this blog come from non-Husker message boards. (Shoutout to my good friends at netbuffs.com and gopowercat.com)

It's all in fun. Hell, I let JP post here all the time. My favorite reader of all time is the guy who told me to eat the corn from his 3 day old shit.

I HATE people when they mimic Jim Rome, but his old saying rings true here. Give it some time. Read some archives.

It's probably not what you think it is. (Although I do really hate NU)
